THE HELL WITH BARRY BONDS!

It is 3:16 ET (this is A.M. by the way) and I'm still at work. Some may say: "Wow, why are you at work so late." Well, thank Barry Lamar Bonds. Mr. Roid himself goes deep as I work the overnight sportscenter. HOWEVER, Bonds leaves the game in the 8th inning but the game decides to go 12. It didn't even end until after 2am. That's always fun. I'd like to thank Khalil Greene for ending that garbage. Of course, there is a Barry Bonds press conference that eats up our whole show. That was (pause) NOT awesome. The hell with you Bonds. I know I won't be out of here until 4am at the earliest. Please hit #7-5-6 while I'm in Las Vegas!

WHAT THE !@$#%$%$#@#% IS WRONG WITH THE TIGERS!

I am going to vent and just ramble until I feel like stopping. This team can't hit, can't field, can't throw, can't pitch, and can't get a fucking good bounce to save their lives right now. Losers of 11 of 15, losers of 4 straight series...3 of them to teams under .500, and 10,0000000000 injuries. This team was the best in baseball at the beginning of July and now are dangerously close to falling out of the playoffs just a month later. Yeah yeah, I know I know, it's only August. It's 50 some odd games to play, yadda yadda yadda...but honestly WTF. Somehow, this team has to find a way to stop losing to these bullshit teams (White Sox, Royals) and start beating bitches up again.

Get it done Leyland.

Get it done Detroit!!!

Catch-Up

I've been slackin on my pimpin with the blog so I'll get you up to speed. The 48-hour extravaganza thrown by J-Mac, Scotty B, and Clutch was fun. We brought some corn on the cob (don't sleep on corn) and smashed on some grilled burgers. The fun continued as I had about 5 beers and a couple of bombs. Now...we play Home Run Derby on the PS2. I want to use Ryan Howard but I have to use David Ortiz instead. I advance to the finals despite my timing being thrown off but then I reach a developing situation...

THE WALL IN RIGHT FIELD OF AT&T PARK IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAR REPEATEDLY.

There's no way a left hander was going to win the Home Run Derby. I hit 3 or 4 bombs that hit off the top of the wall 421 feet away. Meanwhile, I watch Manny Ramirez (a.k.a. Jeremy Lundblad) smash balls to left.

That brings us to the home run derby. I stand by my pick of no lefties so I go with Albert Pujols.
Unfortunately he fell 1 HR shy of advancing to the finals but he put on a good show. I did feel vindicated however as NO LEFTIES ADVANCED TO THE 2ND ROUND. That's right. NO MORNEAU, NO HOWARD, NO FIELDER. As for the Derby itself. I grade it a C+. It was pretty boring for the most part. Vlad put on a show, finally hitting 1 over 500 feet. But it was more of a blah contest; my corn on the cob was a lot more appealing.

Keep on the look out of some Disney World pics coming very soon.

My Chauncey jersey still lives!

The Pistons re-signed Chauncey Billups...finally. As you can see, the Pistons are NOT blowing this thing up like many people wanted. I also told people that Chauncey would not leave...here are the differences between him and Ben Wallace

Ben Wallace

Age: 32

Skill: Athleticism

Salary: 4-yr/$60M

Habits: Not coming back into games

Quotes: Ya'll know where my heart is, in my chest (later signs with Bulls)

Result: Traitor

Chauncey Billups

Age: 30

Skill: Can actually make shots

Salary: 5-year/$60.5M

Habits: Making big shots

Quotes: I want to stay in Detroit

Result: Face of franchise

In other words. Ben Wallace is a sellout and I'm glad he's gone. The Pistons will still be competitive without you. The Pistons would've been a very mediocre team without Chauncey. I hope you retire a Piston Mr. Billups.

NBA Draft

I won't even get into the Top 2 picks of the draft. Everybody with a sports pulse knew Oden and Durant would go 1 and 2.

7:51 - Al Horford goes to the Hawks...making him the 5th forward taken in the last 3 drafts. Atlanta is going nowhere fast. Good ol Billy Knight, possibly the worst GM in sports.

7:53 - Mike Conley Jr. goes to Memphis. Hopefully the Grizzlies decide to not take Chauncey Billups away from the Pistons. Ohio State will not be as good which is good for my Spartans, who have to be the co-favorite to win the Big Ten next year (Indiana)

7:57 - Jeff Green going to Boston....errrrrr...Seattle because Danny Ainge is trying to win now, trading him, Delonte West, and Wally World for Ray Allen. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce sharing the rock...I can't see that lasting more than a year but I guess they are the favorite to win the Atlantic Division. By the way...I'm still pissed off at Jeff Green...WHY DID YOU ONLY TAKE 5 SHOTS AGAINST OHIO STATE IN THE FINAL 4 WITH HIBBERT ON THE BENCH!!! You cost me some money you bastard.

8:03 - My man Yi is drafted by the Bucks...and that supposedly will not be a fan of the Chinese contingent. Honestly, do you know of any chinese people in Wisconsin. I know of a black contingent in Milwaukee and a cheese contingent in the rest of the state...but Chinese people...i don't know about that. Good luck selling that, I'm sure Michael Redd is in love with another international big who doesn't play down low.

8:11 - Corey Brewer to Minnesota. I really like him as a player. In fact, he's the only Florida player that I like. I wish him well even though he might not play long with the big ticket. My guess is that Noah goes next to Charlotte, which would be terrible considering all the other bigs they have.

8:18 - Brandan Wright stays home, joining other Tar Heels Sean May and Raymond Felton. Is UNC the Bobcats Triple-A affiliate? Wright is a jumping jack but still very raw. Now they have Okafor, May, Brezec, Wright, Voskuhl, Herrmann, Morrison, Wallace. That's a bunch of 3's, 4's, and 5's. Ah well. MJ...not nearly as good as a GM as a player.

I missed picks 9 and 10 due to washing dishes and my girlfriend trying to abuse me but I see Noah went to the Bulls instead of Charlotte. If Chicago wasn't my most hated team in the NBA before, then they definitely are now. 1st of all, I hate all Chicago teams (except the Cubs), then trader Ben signs there last year, then all the delusional fans, now they get this sideshow with his terrible hair and bowtie. I still don't know if he's the answer to their low post needs but it does give them another rebounder and shot blocker.

Meanwhile, Spencer Hawes goes to Sacramento......
(if you have something interesting about Spencer Hawes, insert here)

8:40 - My favorite college player (outside of Drew Neitzel) last year goes to the Hawks at 11. I wanted to see Acie Law IV in Pistons red, white, and blue but Atlanta finally gets their point guard. This dude was clutch 90% of the time. I had a lot of fun watching him. The Hawks have talent but too bad that the front office is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad.

8:46 - Thaddeus Young goes to Philly...super athlete, raw in everything else. Not a fan of his. Billy King is terrible. How is Al Thornton still on the board??? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease fall to #15.

8:52 - Julian Wright...the most overrated player in college basketball last year goes to the Hornets. I know he's an athlete but he can't shoot a lick. Everybody says he has unbelieveable upside...I still haven't seen it.

8:59 - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Al Thornton goes to the Clippers. Why does he go to the Clippers. Do you realize your PG shredded his knee last year??? Why Elgin Baylor why. Al Thornton could've been the perfect 6th man for the Pistons. :( Well the Pistons are on the clock now...i think Eastern Washington's own Rodney Stuckey falls here and I won't be to mad with that. And the pick is ..............................

9:05 - Rodney Stuckey, the newest Detroit Piston. Averaged 25 points a game, really athletic and strong. We needed a guy who can go to the bucket and hopefully he can play 15 minutes a game and do what Chauncey couldn't do vs the Cavs...DRIVE TO THE BUCKET! I hope this is the right move because I know I said the same thing in 2001 with Rodney White. I tried to convince myself that Darko and Delfino were the right moves in 2003. Joe D hasn't made the best moves in the draft, but here's hoping Stuckey can do his thing in the D.

9:10 - Nick Young to the Wizards...I know Nick Young is a good player but I thought they had more needs upfront. At least they have a bench guy who can shoot. However, I can't live with Haywood and Etan Thomas as my "real" big men.

9:15 - Zach Randolph comes East to the Knicks...Isiah just made a great move (did I just say that!!!) Steve Francis and Channing Frye...that's it!!! Are you serious? This is such an awful move by Portland. I know you had to get rid of Randolph since you drafted Oden...but that's all you could get...wow I'm speechless.

9:16 - Sean Williams goes to the Nets which is a great move...if he can stay out of trouble. Honestly I could put any big man's name here and it would be better than Jason Collins. How he still starts is beyond me. Williams is a big shot blocker but he's a knucklehead. Good luck in New York/Jersey.

9:23 - Marco Bellinelli to the Warriors. Supposed to be good, but I really haven't seen him 2 much. I'll just leave it at that. Consistency on jumper is the need for most improvement apparently...that's got Carlos Delfino written alllllllllllll over it.

9:27 - Enough about Kobe Bryant. He's the biggest attention whore in the league. He made his bed now he can lay in it. The hell with Kobe Bryant.

9:30 - Lakers select Javaris Crittendon from Georgia Tech...exactly what Kobe needs, another guy who isn't quite ready to contribute. I'm sure he looked at the TV and said who the fuck is Javaris Crittendon. Ah well. I hope the Lakers become the 4th best team in California, behind Golden State, the Clippers and Sacramento.

9:35 - Jason Smith goes to Miami to help out the rent-a-team. The Heat are probably my most 2nd most hated team in the league. I guess he helps Zo and Shaq but I thought Gabe Pruitt would be a good fit there. Why didn't Colorado State win more with a "dominant force" like Jason Smith?

9:42 - Hmmmmmmmm, Daequan Cook goes 21 and is traded to the Heat for Jason Smith. This dude has a LOT of talent buuuuuuuuuuuuut he's an asshole and extremely immature. Have fun never shooting the ball on that team.

9:48 - I hate Jared Dudley. He goes to the Bobcats. I hate him. He's really annoying. He jumps around like a chicken with his head cut off. He's a shorter Joakim Noah with braids. I hate him. Period. Hate! Very glad he's not a Piston. Did I mention that I hate him!

9:52 - Wilson Chandler goes to the Knicks, which was correctly called by Spike Lee just a minute earlier. Benton Harbor, Michigan product. Another troublemaking guy...very little character...extreme baller. We'll see how it works out for him.

9:58 - Portland buys the Suns pick at 24 to draft Rudy Fernandez...who joins Sergio Rodriguez as another Spaniard on the Blazers. Portland has been real busy today. They've got a nice core group of players.

10:03 - An Almond from Rice goes to Salt Lake City. Perfect fit except that salted almonds and rice might not taste that great. However, Utah did need a shooter and he fits the bill.

10:11 - Aaron Brooks to Houston in the biggest reach of the draft. I know it's not a lot of point guards left but this dude isn't better then Rafer Alston in my opinion. Brooks is a good player but yo, this is a reach of a pick. He wasn't projected in the 1st round in any drafts really. Gabe Pruitt is a better NBA prospect then this cat...errrr duck. By the way...the Pistons are on the clock. If Alando Tucker goes to Detroit...I will be a very sick man. Joe...please don't do it. Please.

10:17 - My girlfriend is laughing hysterically as the Pistons have still not made their pick. "Maybe something interesting happened, the Pistons trade their pick for ...a pickle" Wow...just when I thought that stuff couldn't be more random. She's still rolling around and laughing hysterically...which brings us tooooooooooooooooooooo....

10:19 - Arron Afflalo, the newest Detroit Piston...Joe D loves big and physical guards. I was hoping for Byars at this pick but Afflalo is a good one...as long as he doesn't play against Corey Brewer. He can't get his own shot but he can come off screens and shoot it. I like this pick...long and a good defender who works hard. Also a winner...good pick.

10:25 - What a surprise! The Spurs drafted an international player. Tiago Splitter, joins all them other international cats. San Antonio is basically another United Nations. This is ridiculous but it's been working for them so far.

10:31 - The Phoenix Suns become my 3rd most hated team in the league by drafting Alando Tucker. This badger product was the ultimate hotdog and I loved seeing them lose to UNLV. The west better be careful though...he can play, but he can also flop...the black Ginobili perhaps?

10:37 - Some cat from Finland got drafted and I could care less. And that's the end of the 1st round. Pistons are big winners here. Atlanta did well for themselves also with getting Law and Horford.

I'll only do very few Round 2 picks, frankly because I don't care much about the 2nd Round unless it's a player or team I hate...or unless it's the Pistons of course.

10:53 - Nick Fazekas goes to Dallas. Another big white dude going to Dallas that can't play in the post. But if you want a 3-point shooting contest between two 7 foot white dudes...that is the team for you.

Jason Richardson traded to the Bobcats for Brandan Wright. I'm semi-shocked here. Charlotte does get a shooting guard that they desperately needed and got rid of a log jam at the 4. Golden State now has a lot of athleticism in the front court and back court...except for the criminal Stephen Jackson.

11:01 - Portland BUYS another pick. Is Paul Allen just trying to show off how much money he has? And then he selects this soft Duke bastard in Josh McRoberts. You want to talk about a bust...he's Shavlik Randolph 2.0. Boooooooooooooo that man.

11:56 - The Pistons select Sammy Meija out of DePaul. He's a nice player...I'm kind of surprised that we drafted 3 guards but Joe knows a lot more than I do.

11:58 - The Spurs draft ANOTHER international guy. I think they have more international guys then American guys. Michael Finley, Brent Barry, Robert Horry, and Jacque Vaughn might be the only American guys on the team...compared to Duncan, Oberto, Parker, Ginobili, Udrih, Elson. Ah well...if it ain't broke then don't fix it right?

12:06 - And Mr. Irrelevant is MILONVAN RAKOVIC. I can't think of a better name for this cat. Extremely irrelevant.

Recap

Portland had almost as many picks as the rest of the teams in the draft
The Knicks had a huge night picking up Zach Randolph
Seattle didn't do to bad either.

Boston wants to win right away but I think they'll pay for it later.
Charlotte is now giving J-Rich 12 mil and could lose Gerald Wallace. I'm not buyin it.
The Pistons picked up 3 guards. Chauncey, Rip, and Tayshaun have no excuse now. Flip Saunders...PLEASE PLAY YOUR BENCH NOW! Good night everybody

Debut

I had my 1st sportscenter today. It was kind of hectic but it was all good. I'm just glad I'm going on vacation. DisneyWorld will be a lot of fun. I'll be heading down there from Saturday-Wednesday and off from work until July 3. By the way...I know I'm going to see Die Hard 4. If anybody is reading this blog, then they should go see it too.

Detroit Tigers are the hottest team in baseball...winning 5 in a row. Season-high 14 games over .500 and are destroying the baseball. Also in 1st place for the 1st time in a month with Verlander on the mound. I'm hoping they can pull away from the pack a little bit.

Fun Times

Went out a lot with Team Research over the past few days. I had a good time at the J-Mac, Clutch, and Beaman household on Monday...where some Jager bombs and good stories were shared. I learned that some people are waaaaaaaay too dramatic and that story was very funny. I got to see Shahien which was cool since I missed his party. Moyer was there...who I hadn't seen in months so that was good times too.

Tuesday, Team Research was at it again as we played trivia night at Hooters. Shahien came out again for his last night in the Bristol area. We didn't get a NBA question right...how is that possible!?!?!?!? I also got to see Brett who seems to be doing quite well. Always a good time whenever you can talk college football. J-Mac and Clutch downed 3 pitches of beer by themselves...it was quite impressive.

Thursday, Vinny Masil's 30th b-day bash was a lot of fun. Lots of alcoholic beverages had by most. I think we had about 14 people there or so. We then played some kind of TV game. Red team beat blue team's ass even though I didn't know much about some of those shows. Vanessa and Norah with some help from Allison and Darcy carried the Red Team to victory. Nick was hammered and provided an instant classic. He didn't realize Vanessa was part Asian so when he makes a comment about Ichiro being a F'n asian, and Clutch immediately glancing at Vanessa...you better believe laughs were had by all. Loucks and Clutch...good times between those too. I know Allison and Andrea took pictures so I'll post those soon.

A New Beginning

Town 2.0 is here. I had a blog back in college when I was playfully known as the Bartender but times have changed. As my people know, I moved to CT from the 313 and it's still an adjustment. Things have been made a little easier with my girlfriend living with me for the summer. At the moment, I'm watching the Tigers-Nationals on gamecast and wondering how many runs Jason Grilli will give up in the 7th inning. My guess is 2, I mean his ERA is over 6 for a reason. Anyways, I'm going to try and get things up and running for a while. Stay tuned.

Well...staying tuned brings us to the 9th inning. For some reason, Todd Jones enters the game in a non-save situation as the Tigers lead 9-5. It is currently 9-8 with no outs and runners on 1st and 2nd. How can you enter with a 4 run lead and give up 3 runs without getting an out!

The rollercoaster definitely living up to his name...strikes out the meathook and gets Kearns to ground into a fielder's choice...which brings us to the belly, who grounds out to Boots Guillen. Wow...that was worse then riding the Millenium Force at Cedar Point. This bullpen garbage has to get better. By the way, it's not good when you're closer allows opponents to hit over .300. Joel Zumaya where are you?
